Just half an hours drive north from our Villas, Torre Guaceto is a Protected Marine Area and a Nature Reserve with curving bays and lovely beaches. No boats, fishing or animals are allowed in the area. Swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving are encouraged.
We visited Zone B, one of the bays, on a Sunday in the middle of June. At this time of year there are people on the beach but there is plenty of empty space! As a Nature Reserve and a protected area there are no facilities at the beaches here. But if you like peace and quiet and open spaces it’s well worth packing up the picnic box and beach furniture and taking a day trip to Torre Guaceto.
You can also walk or cycle the nature trails through the Nature Reserve. The Visitor Centre in the Nature Reserve organises bicycle trekking, walking tours and snorkelling experiences.
